Michael Schumacher, the legendary F1 driver who won a record of 91 Grands Prix turned 50 on Thursday and his family released a rare statement on this occasion informing the fans that he is in best of hands and everything humanly possible is being done to help him to recover.

He met with a skiing accident in 2013 and has not been seen in public since. The former Ferrari driver is being treated at his home in Switzerland but millions of his fans are yet to know the exact state of his health.

Toto Wolff, the boss of Mercedes, the final team for which Schumacher drove, paid tribute to the seven-time world champion saying “he shaped and changed the sport forever”.

“As a driver, Michael took Formula 1 to a whole new level with his attention to the detail and his technical knowledge”, Wolff added.

Britain’s five-time champion Hamilton wished the legend says, “Wishing you a happy birthday Michael. Fifty years of life and legacy which will last forever”.

Michael Schumacher’s daughter Gina also posted on  Instagram with the message, “Happy Birthday to the best dad”.
