What is Pool Rummy?

Pool Rummy is among the most popular variants of Indian Rummy. This game is played with two to six players on the table and each player is dealt 13 cards. The gameplay is quite similar to other versions of the Rummy Game but has some key differences in rules and calculations in winning. Pool Rummy has two further variants known as 101 Pool and 201 Pool Rummy. The game's main objective is to score the least amount of points among the players on the table to be declared the winner of Pool Rummy.

Pool Rummy is similar to Points Rummy, where you can play more than one round to make your opponents cross above points. Every player must pursue to score zero or the least amount of points at the end of every round of the Pool Rummy. The first player who reaches the maximum points of 101 or 201 will be automatically eliminated from the tournament in Pool Rummy. Moreover, to make a valid declaration, all 13 cards need to be arranged in sets and sequences. There needs to be one pure and impure sequence.   • In Pool Rummy, the Joker card is used as a wild card. If the printed joker card is used as the joker, players can use the Ace card of any suit as a joker. Joker is mostly used as a substitute for any card to create an impure sequence of cards. For example, if you have a possible sequence of cards with 7 and 9, then you use the Joker card as a substitute for 8 and create an impure sequence.

  • When your turn comes, you can either pick a card from the open deck or closed deck. But, when you pick a card from either of the decks, you must have to discard a card from your hand. Once you discard the card, your turn is over and will have to wait until the turn moves back to you. All the cards that you have discarded will be visible in a tab when you online Pool Rummy so that you would know which cards your opponents have rejected.

  • The game's main objective is to have the least number of points possible to win the game. Therefore, you need to pursue a zero or the least number of points at the end of the game in Pool Rummy. When you create a sequence of cards, you will be awarded 0 points. Other players on the table will receive points based on the number of cards they hold in their hands. The objective of 201 Rummy is to pursue zero or the least number of players at the end of the game. A player has to ensure that their opponents that they cross 201 points. If any player reaches the maximum of 201 points, then he/she will be eliminated from the tournament.

  3. 61 Rummy : 61 Rummy is regarded as the fastest version of Pool Rummy. Just like 101 Rummy and 201 Rummy, players can use all cards from Ace to King, along with four suites on the deck. In 61 Rummy, players must score the least number of points in every round to win the game. But here, any player that reaches a score of 61 points or above, then he/she will be eliminated from the contest or the tournament. This game will be finished quickly as compared to 101 Rummy and 201 Rummy.

How is the scoring done in Pool Rummy on PlayerzPot?

In the game Pool Rummy, there is a scoring pattern that every player on the table has to follow while playing the game. The players or users need to understand how the scoring system works in Pool Rummy.

Determining the winner:

The player with the least number of points at the end of the game will be declared the winner. Basically, the first player to achieve the game’s objective wins.

  1. In a six-player table, the game will continue without the player who finished the game without meeting the objective. And that player will get 80 points.
  2. The Winner of the game will get 0 points. The loser of the game will get points based on the number of cards he/she holds in the hand. It is important to remember that each card in Rummy carries a certain number of points. Here are the points for each card:
    • J - 10 Points
    • Q - 10 Points
    • K - 10 Points
    • A - 10 Points
  3. All the other numbered cards carry the same number of points as their face value. For eg., If a value of a card is 7 then it carries 7 points.
  4. The Joker cards don’t have a value as they carry zero points.

The loser of the Game will receive the following points:

  1. If a player finishes the game without achieving the objective of Pool Rummy, then the player will lose and receive 80 points.
  2. In case a player misses three turns on the trot, then that player loses and gets a middle drop score, which is 40 points in 101 Rummy and 50 points in 201 Rummy.

How are the Winnings Calculated in Pool Rummy on PlayerzPot?

  • Winnings: Entry Fee x Number of Players = PlayerzPot Fees.

  • The Winner of every deal will get 0 points and the rest gets accumulated points which are added to their score.

  • The scores will get added up after every round of Pool Rummy. The players will get eliminated from the tournament as they reach 101 points in 101 Rummy, 201 points in case of 201 Rummy and 61 points in case of 61 Rummy.

  • The winner of the game will get the entire amount of prize pool. The money will be credited to their PlayerzPot account after deducting the entry fee of ₹100. That means the winner will receive ₹500 in their account.

  • If you lose a rummy game, you can still rejoin it by paying the entry fee for that game. You can also select a different pot on PlayerzPot to play the game.

  • Rejoin is allowed if no player is above 79 in 101 Rummy, 174 in 201 Rummy and 44 in 61 Point. However, this is applicable only in the game which has an entry fee of less than ₹ 2000.

How does the drop option work in Pool Rummy on PlayerzPot?

In Pool Rummy, each player on the table gets an option to drop the game throughout the duration of the game. There are two types of drops that work in Pool Rummy- First Drop and Middle Drop.

  • First Drop : First Drop is also called Initial Drop. When a player leaves the table on their first turn without picking up a card is called First Drop or Initial Drop. You will receive 20 points as a penalty in 101 Rummy, while 25 points in the case of 201 Rummy for a first drop. However, it is important to note that you can only go for a First Drop when you have no Jokers or have no sequence or set in hand.

  • Middle Drop : If you leave a game after picking a card then it is called the middle drop. You will get 40 points in 101 Rummy, while 50 points in the case of 201 Rummy for a middle drop. You can only opt for a middle drop when you have no pure sequence or not having the possibility of grouping the cards in valid combinations. But, do not opt for a middle drop if the total value of your cards is 40 or less than that.

Apart from First Drop and Middle Drop, there is another option called ‘Auto Drop’. If a player clicks on Auto Drop, then he/she will be dropped from subsequent and give the first drop score i.e. 20 points in 101 Rummy and 25 points in 201 Rummy. The points accumulated by a player when he/she was dropped will be added to their score. Moreover, if a player misses three turns on the trot, then he/she will be automatically dropped from the tournament or contest.
