Youth Olympic Games 2018 is witnessing the rise of many stars in the sports world from the Indian subcontinent. Shooter Tushar Mane was the first among them to gift India with Silver on the opening day of YOG, at Buenos Aires in the men’s 10m air rifle.

He was the maiden shooter to bag a ticket for the YOG 2018, at the Asian Championship on December last year. Russia’s Grigorii Shamakov clinched the gold with a score of 249.2 whereas Mane shot 247.5 to finish off second for the event. Aleska Mitrovic of Serbia settled for the third position with a score of 227.9 points.

Suma Shirur, high-performance coach for the Indian Junior team (rifle) was assigned the role of training Tushar Mane, the 16-year old from Maharashtra. She firmly believes that the boy is the future of Indian shooting and he is here to stay for a long time.

Mane has also bagged the yellow metal at Suhl, Germany in the 10m Air Rifle Jr. World Cup 2018 with a Team World Record. Indian team who won only two medals in the Youth Olympics last time at China fares much better this time which raises hopes for a bright future ahead.
