On Thursday, BCCI announced a 15-member squad for the last three matches against West Indies and looks like the decision was made to enhance to boost the pace attack.
It has been decided to bring back the duo of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah, with an aim to chase the score as West Indies have managed to pull a target of 300 runs in the first two matches.
Mohammed Shami has been detained from the team and despite an erratic performance by Umesh Yadav, has been retained.
The selectors have decided to retain the rest of the team and it will be interesting to see whether these changes can or cannot bring out some better performances from the likes of KL Rahul and Manish Pandey, or they have to stick with the middle order comprising of a trio of Rayudu, Dhoni, and Pant.
With West Indies snatched a tie against India in the second match with Shai Hope scoring a boundary in the last delivery, the selectors do feel that the team requires a touch-up for pace attackers, as India’s death bowling looked shaky in the first two matches.
Left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed, who played the first match, has been retained in the squad.
It would be interesting to see whether Umesh Yadav, who has been very disappointing in the series so far, will be retained in the series or not?
