The International Boxing Association (AIBA) Women’s World Boxing Championship is all set to start from November 15th at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi.

The largest sports arena in India will witness action-packed contests in countries weight categories as over 300  boxers from 73 countries will compete making it the biggest single-disciple event after the FIFA Youth World Cup held last year in the national capital. India is hosting the tournament for the second time after 2006 when the country tops the table with eight medals.

The interesting fact about this tenth edition of the tournament is that new countries- Scotland, Malta, Bangladesh, Cayman Islands, DR Congo, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, and Somalia- are making their debut.

India names a 10 member squad which is a good mix of experienced and new boxers with the hope of a triumphant journey. The five-time World Champion and the only Indian female boxer to win an Olympic medal, Mary Kom is the highlight of the Indian team who is all set for her sixth World Championship title.

Several countries have sent their experienced and young boxers with proven records for the event and participant from 12 countries arrived a week ago to adjust to the conditions and to prepare for the D-Day.
