Indian skipper Virat Kohli dismissed speculations that his troubled back could hamper his spectacular career, insisting that all players get “niggles” and they are “nothing new”.

Fans were worried when Kohli underwent treatment on day two of the Melbourne Test against Australia last week, midway into his innings of 82 runs. He has a recent history of back spasms which led him to exit the field in the second Test in England in August 2018.

But the 30-year old, widely considered as the best batsman across all three formats of the game and crucial to the success of Men in Blue said it was not a major concern.

Ahead of the fourth and final Test against Australia, Kohli clarified in the press conference saying, “I’ve had this issue since 2011, its nothing new. I have been able to manage it because of the physical effort I’ve put over the past few years. If the workload is high, it can get into a spasm, I mean you don’t get serious issues, you will get fine in two or three days.”

The passionate Indian cricket captain who admits he is obsessed with winning cricket matches confirms that he was “not too bothered” with this issue.
