Mauricio Pochettino admits that he is worried about the knee injury suffered by Captain Harry Kane during Tottenham’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester United at Wembley.
The England striker was caught late by Victor Lindelof in the closing stages of the match and Kane was in obvious discomfort with what appeared to be an ankle problem. With the in-form South Korean Son Heung-min playing his last match before heading off to the Asia Cup, the last thing Pochettino wanted to see was the limping off of Harry Kane.
Kane and Son Heung-min together scored 22 goals this season and any long absence of Kane would leave Spurs in short of attacking options with Son going away and Lucas Moura still injured himself and Fernando Llorente and Vincent Janssen expected to leave the club this month.
“It was a clear foul on Harry Kane, a big hit and Mike Dean says he didn’t see it. It was a bad tackle and now he has a swelling on his ankle”, Pochettino said.
“We are going to lose Son Heung-min for the Asia Cup and if Kane suffers injury, it is going to be massive for us. He twisted his ankle and we hope it is not a big issue”, Pochettino added.
The defeat left Spurs nine points behind Liverpool and they will be 5 points behind Manchester City if the Champions win against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday.
