The eight-time Olympic gold medalist, Usain Bolt has given up on his dream of becoming a professional football player saying, “the sports life is over” for him.
Bolt was unable to agree on a contract with Australian side Central Coast Mariners late last year after a trial who reportedly said,” It was fun while it lasted. I don’t want to say it wasn’t dealt with properly, but we went about it not the way we should…“You live and you learn and it was a good experience just being in a team.”
He made his grand debut to the world of football with Mariners in September and scored twice in his second trial match. Despite the two goals and a significant improvement in his level of football fitness, serious questions remained about his general play and ability to turn into an elite athlete in a second sport.
Bolt who still holds the 100m and 200m world record and retired from the athletics in 2017 told that he never regrets his decision of trying to become a professional football player. Instead of sports he now prefers to try his luck on other business ventures. ” I am just doing many different things…the sports life is over. So I am just moving on to different businesses.”
