Kylian Mbappe scored a stunning volley against Saint Etienne to earn single goal victory for Paris Saint Germain. The win means the defending French champions now have a comfortable 12 point lead over second placed Lille who has played two more games.
The 20-year-old sensation also made a new Ligue 1 record in the process. Mbappe is the first French player to score 19 goals in his first 18 league games over the last 45 years. His tally is also the highest amongst players who have not scored a penalty in Europe’s top five leagues.
The man of the moment said after the game, “I tried the first time, I sent it over the top, in the stands. But when we persevere, it pays. [Alves] gave it perfectly to me at the right time and I played it instinctively.”
PSG coach Thomas Tuchel revealed that is prolific in training, as was evident when he was presented with a special shirt celebrating his 100th training goal earlier this week and expressed his view that Les Parisiens’ No. 7 is no ordinary talent.
