Manchester United advanced to the quarter-finals of FA Cup, knocking out Chelsea 2-0 on Monday night and the manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer became the first manager since Sir Alex Ferguson to beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge since 2012.
With the two goals of Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba in the first half of the game, United soared to victory in the fifth round match against Chelsea. Solskjaer registered his 11th win in 13 matches as manager and so far lost only one match – a Champions League home leg against Paris Saint-Germain.
Defeating Chelsea was an act of sweet revenge also against their loss in the final of the competition at Wembley in the last season.
Back in October 2012, Sir Alex Ferguson led United to an exciting victory in the Premier League and after that, they lost seven times out of the nine games against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. United managed to break the curse this time even though it was nothing like their thrilling victory last time.
Ander Herrera opened the scoring with a stooping header not long before Paul Pogba added a second score with a powerful header of his own. The legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson was also present and loved every second of United’s historic victory.
