Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was fined £45,000 by the Football Association (FA) on Thursday for the comments he made about the referee Kevin Friend following his side’s draw with West Ham.
The Reds boss called out Friend for favoring the Irons with a number of decisions that he took against Liverpool at the London Stadium as the Merseyside outfit dropped points in their rush for the title.
The FA charged Klopp earlier this month after his comments which have “questioned the integrity of the referee and implied bias”, which was accepted by the coach.
The FA statement read,” Jurgen Klopp has been fined 45,000 pounds after accepting a FA charge for comments made following Liverpool’s league game against West Ham United on 4 February 2019”.
“The comments made by him during a post-match interview breached FA rule E3 (1), as they questioned the integrity of the referee and/or implied bias”.
This is the second time this season Klopp is charged with a fine from the FA. His side is currently second in the Premier League to Manchester City.
