India’s veteran pacer Jhulan Goswami has returned to the top position for bowlers in the ICC Women’s ODI rankings.
The 36-year-old Goswami, who last held the top spot in February 2017, was the star for the Indian team as she picked up eight wickets in the three-match ODI series enabling her side to win the series 2-1 against England.
The Indian team reached the second position in the 8-team championship that provides direct qualification berths to host New Zealand and four other top teams in the 2021 Women’s World Cup.
Being the most successful bowler in ODIs with 218 wickets, Jhulan Goswami is just a few steps away from having the record of being at the top for the most number of days which is 1873 days with only retired Australia fast bowler Cathryn Fitzpatrick having spent 2113 days at the top ahead of her.
Natalie Sciver has climbed up 10 slots to reach her career-best fifth place in the batting rankings with 130 runs in the three-match series against India.
Australia has also moved closer to clinch a direct berth for the World Cup as they hold the first spot defeating New-Zealand 3-0 in the ODI series.
