Mauricio Pochettino has been given a two-match touchline ban and £10000 fine by the English Football Association (FA) on Wednesday after an improper conduct charge.
He had a post-match row with referee Mike Dean after Tottenham’s Premier League 2-1 defeat at Burnley that led to Spurs losing ground to Manchester City and Liverpool in the title race.
The FA stated, “Mauricio Pochettino has been fined 10,000 pounds and will serve a two-match touchline ban following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing.”
“The Tottenham manager accepted an improper conduct charge from the FA, which resulted from his language or behavior – both on the pitch and in or around the tunnel area at the end of the game against Burnley on February 23rd.”
The Argentine has never previously received a game ban in his seventeen years in the English game and he accepted the charge. He will be in the stands for this month’s League games at Southampton on March 9 and Liverpool on March 31.
