The Indian men’s hockey team registered a comfortable win of 3-0 against Australia ‘A’ on Friday after the aggressive visitors dominated the entire first quarter with all the three goals scored in the same.
Young striker Sumit Kumar Jr and the comeback-man Rupinder Pal Singh shone brightly in the game, helping India win their second game in a row.
Nearly after 8 months of injury layoff, drag-flicker Rupinder scored in the sixth minute to give India the lead while Sumit found the back of the net in the 12th and 13th minutes.
The tactic of looking constantly to break into the striking circle worked very well for the Indian team as they scored all three goals in the first quarter itself leaving the home-team on the back-foot. India’s first goal emerge when the team won their first shot corner of the match as Rupinder flicked well with good power and speed to send it past the opposition goalkeeper.
India’s second goal came as the result of the skillful tackling of the defender Harmanpreet Singh in which Australia ‘A’ lost their ball possession.
The home-team were left stunned as India scored the third goal in the very next minute when striker Akashdeep Singh set-up the goal scored by 21-year-old Sumit.
