Manchester United have completed the transfer of Wales winger Daniel James from Swansea City for a five-year contract with an option to extend by a further year, to become Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first signing as United manager.
The 21-year-old graduate of the Swansea academy signed the contract with an initial fee of about £15 million. He had an impressive 2018-19 campaign with the Championship side, scoring five goals in 38 appearances.
United manager Solskjaer told in the club’s official website, “Daniel is an exciting young player with lots of skills, vision, exceptional pace and a good work ethic.“He had a great season with Swansea City and has all the attributes to become a Manchester United player. This is a perfect environment for Daniel to continue his development.”
James is also delighted to get this opportunity to move to Old Trafford but admitted that this joy is ‘tinged with sadness’ after his father passed away last month.“This is one of the best days of my life and a challenge that I am really looking forward to”, he said.
“The Premier League is the best league in the world and Manchester United is the perfect place for me to develop. I am looking forward to working with Ole, meeting the team and getting started,” Daniel James added.
