Roger Federer reached a record-extending 100th Wimbledon match win on Wednesday as he reached his 13th semi-final match at the All England Club to set up a face-off with his old rival Rafael Nadal.
Nadal and Federer will meet for their “unique rivalry” for the 40th time on Friday in what will be the pair’s fourth clash at the All England Club. Federer booked his place in the semis of a Grand Slam for the 45th time by defeating Japan’s Kei Nishikori 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-4. Whereas Nadal recorded a straight win 7-5, 6-2, and 6-2 over Sam Querry of USA to seal his place.
Since their epic 2008 final Federer will now face Nadal at Wimbledon for the first time. Roger Federer said, “We have a lot of information on Rafa and so does he about us. I know people always hype it up in a big way. “They did that again in Paris this year. I would love to play against him at Wimbledon.
“But I go about it like any other match”. This match is yet again one of those clashes the world is waiting to see between the two tennis giants.
