Brazil legend & two-time FIFA World Player of the Year winner Ronaldinho will come out of retirement to play a friendly in Columbia in October. He will represent Colombia’s Independiente Santa Fe; the club has confirmed.
The Bogota based club posted a video on social media in which 39-year-old Ronaldinho is seen holding their jersey confirming he will take part in the match at the Campin on October 17. The opponents are yet to be named. There have also been media reports about his involvement in the Colombian derby between America and Deportivo Cali, representing both clubs in each half. This news is sure to delight fans as they will get to see him in action once again after the Brazilian world cup winner had announced retirement from the sport last year.
Ronaldinho was named Brazil’s tourism ambassador recently, a move which was seen as ironic because he has been banned to travel abroad. Brazil’s Supreme Court had upheld a decision earlier to ban him from leaving the country as the former Barcelona star had failed to pay fine resulting from an earlier court case.
Therefore, it is unclear if Ronaldinho would be able to travel to Columbia for the announced friendly unless it is clear by the Brazilian authorities first.
