Six-time champion Serena Williams storms into the US Open finals sweeping aside Anastasija Sevastova where she will face Japanese power player Naomi Osaka. Williams has a golden chance in front of her to equal to Margaret Court’s all-time record of grand slam titles by beating Osaka. With six titles in New York, she needs just one more to surpass Chris Evert, an 18-time grand slam champion. This is Serena’s 31^st Grand Slam final and the ninth US Open Final. She was out of the game for a year after announcing her pregnancy and later undergoing surgery for life-threatening blood clots post delivery. Now she is back in action and too in full swing looking close to her very best. Serena called her return to the game ‘incredible’ and felt that this is just the beginning. She said, “I just felt like there is a lot of growth still needed in my game and that’s the most exciting part. Even though I am not a spring chicken, I still have a very bright future.” Williams broke her tradition of not the one to approach the net in the semi-finals, and it paid off well with a trip to the US Open finals. The American charged to the net with purpose throughout the match on 28 occasions and winning 24 of those points and swept off Latvian 19^th seed Anastasija Sevastova. “I have been working on my volleys” replied Williams on her aggressive game plan. With this emphatic win on the semi-finals, chances soar high for this former world champion to yet again conquer another Grand Slam to her name.
