Sachin Tendulkar who was tweeting aggressively throughout the opening Test of the four-match series against Australia commented that it reminded him of the historic Adelaide match where India overpowered the mighty Australian cricket team.
India registered a memorable Test victory over Australia by 31 runs in the first Test of the four-match series at Adelaide Oval on Monday which literally opened the floodgates with people reminiscing and hailing the historic nature of the win.
The similarities between the 2003 and 2018 victories are notable. In 2003, under Ganguly’s captaincy, the Indian team thrashed hosts by 6 wickets after Rahul Dravid scored his double century in the first innings. This year, Cheteshwar Pujara scored his 16th Test hundred, helping India to go 1-0 up in the series opener.
