Finishing on 22 goals each, the African trio of Sadio Mane, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mohamed Salah will share the Premier League Golden Boot for the 2018-19 season.
While Salah became the sixth player to win the accolade in two consecutive seasons, Arsenal and Gabon forward Aubameyang scored a brace on the final day against Burnley and Senegalese international Mane scored for Liverpool against Wolves to attain the honor.
Sergio Aguero of Manchester City and Jamie Vardy of Leicester City finished second and third for the award respectively.
Salah finished with more assists (8) but the Premier League does not consider assists for the Golden Boots award and he joins the players Harry Kane, Robin van Persie, Thierry Henry, Michael Owen and Alan Shearer in winning the award in successive seasons.
Sergio was on his way to join the top scorers but only scored once in Manchester City’s 4-1 win against Brighton, ending with 21 goals.
Aubameyang was delighted to be part of the African trio to achieve this victory and said,” I am happy we won and I am sharing this trophy with two other guys I like, great players and African. We are representing Africa and that’s cool.”
