Promises were made but hopelessly broken between sledding rivals Australia and India. Enough hints were given that both teams battle without crossing the lines. But day four of the Perth Test saw tensions flared between the captains, Tim Paine and Virat Kohli.
After the tension brewed on day 3, with a relatively civil back-and-forth, the saga continued on day 4. Paine and Partner Usman Khawaja were struggling to get the ball off the square in the first session and their lead has gone past 200 run-marks. This might have triggered frustration to the visiting captain as they bagged no wickets on the first session of day 4 which resulted in the verbal spat.
This didn’t go well with the Australian Captain which led him telling Vijay, “Murali, I know he is your captain. But you can’t seriously like him as a block.”
The former Australian cricketers slammed Kohli over his behavior. Michael Hussey commented that he did not like the behavior of Indian Captain while Allan Border said that he had never seen any captains behave the way Kohli did.
