Cristiano Ronaldo added one more first to his football career by becoming the first player to 100 Champions League wins as he chases down the sixth crown.
The Juventus star secured a spot for the team in the Champions League knockout stage with a blasting 1-0 win over Valencia on Tuesday. Records continue to tumble down around the Portuguese star as the bar of excellence is raised each time with each game.
It was Ronaldo’s cross that allowed Mario Mandzukic to tap the ball into the net in the 59th minute. Juventus Talismanic No 7 is now one step closer to capturing the sixth continental crown which he had lifted earlier four times with Real Madrid and once with Manchester United.
Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri hailed the impact of the Portuguese star in the Italian champions, ”Ronaldo gives us a sense of security and confidence”.
“The team is essentially the same as the last season. We have grown and became faster at playing the ball but then there is, of course, Cristiano Ronaldo”
With Ronaldo as the key player who joined Juventus last summer, the team is looking for their third European title and first since 1995.
