The Portuguese football superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo named the Player of the year at the Globe Soccer Awards defeating Frenchmen Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappe on Thursday night in Dubai.
The awards don’t end here for the Juventus No 7, as he scooped up the prize for the best goal of the year – his overhead kick for former club Real Madrid against his current club in last season’s UEFA Champions League.
The French team coach, Didier Deschamps who guided them to the world cup glory was awarded the best coach title. Atletico Madrid also had an evening to cherish as Los Rojiblancos voted as the best club of the year.
It was Ronaldo who reigned supreme in Dubai who marked three consecutive years best player award winner and fifth in total since 2011. Last time Cristiano Ronaldo and his club Real Madrid took a clean sweep of the awards, with Ronaldo claiming the best player, Zinedine Zidane as the best coach and Real Madrid as the best club.
Brazil’s legendary striker Ronaldo and Italian managerial giant Fabio Capello won the lifetime achievement awards in the same night.
