In the midst of rumors and controversies between Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, the Indian team departed to the United States and the Caribbean on Monday. Hours after the team left, Vice-captain Rohit Sharma has put out a tweet on his social media account which says, “I just don’t walk out for my Team. I walk out for my country.”
Ahead of their departure, skipper Virat Kohli had rubbished the rumors of any drift in the dressing room calling it just baffling. He refuted these rumors saying people are feeding off lies” are being disrespectful to the player’s personal lives. Coach Ravi Shastri went a step ahead to tell the press that no individual was bigger than the team.
Shastri had said earlier,” the way the team plays, no individual is bigger than the team. The way they play is in the interest of the game. You cannot have that consistency if there is a rift or whatever.”
The series between India and West Indies which will be the first tournament after India’s World Cup exit will start from August 3rd and includes 3 T20s, followed by an equal number of ODIs, with the 2 Test series starting from August 22nd.
