The International Cricket Council (ICC) has responded to the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) call of action against Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli and Co for wearing camouflaged caps against Australia during the third ODI in Ranchi.
PCB suggested that the India cricket team had taken permission for some other purpose from ICC and action should be taken against them for wearing military caps in a match.
The ICC in reply stated that India was granted permission to wear the camouflaged caps as a tribute to the country’s armed forces.
“The BCCI sought permission from the ICC to wear the caps as part of a fundraising drive and in memory of fallen soldiers who have died, which was granted”, ICCS’s General Manager Strategic Communications Claire Furlong said in the statement issued.
March 8th saw the Indian Team donning the military caps in the match against Australia at Ranchi as a mark of respect to the CPRF personal that were killed in Pulwama terror attack and contributed its match fee to the National Defense Fund.
The BCCI has asked ICC on February to “sever ties with countries from which terrorism emanates” after the Pulwama attack.
