On the eve of the first Test at Adelaide Oval, Australian head coach, Justin Langer commented that the weight of the past will plainly put India under pressure and the hosts will show great respect to Kohli’s Team India.
Langer said he could sense a huge confidence on the Indian team which reminded him of the “great Australian team” that won in India. “You sense they are smelling blood. Just like the great Australian cricket team of 2001 feet and we just fell short and we were able to in 2004”, Langer told Australian radio station SEN.
India has never won a Test series in Australia and their Test record is far from impressive. A 1-1 draw under Ganguly in 2004 was only the third time India avoided defeat Down Under and MS Dhoni-led team was blanked 4-0 in 2011-12. The year 2014-15 saw the Kohli’s team put up a valiant fight as visitors in Australia but succumbed to a 2-0 defeat.
“They are a good team and they have got a couple of good players and we will show them great respect”, Langer mentioned.
“They haven’t had great success in Australia in the past as Australia haven’t had in India. They will also be under great pressure I think”.
