Rishabh Pant might have already regretted his shot selection during India’s World Cup semi-final against New Zealand and he has all the reasons to do so too, but skipper Virat Kohli defends his batsman saying he is young and will learn from his mistakes.
After India’s poor start to their innings, youngster Rishabh Pant attempted to rebuild the score but a poor approach to Mitchell Santner’s delivery got him out after making a steady 32-run knock.
Team India captain Kohli goes easy on Pant who is facing flak for throwing away his wicket and said he too committed a lot of mistakes which are avoidable during the early days of career and hoped that Pant will also learn to grow into a mature batsman in time.
“He is still young. I made my errors while I was young in my career and he will learn. He will look back and think yes, he could have chosen a different option in that situation and he realizes that already.
“He is an instinctive player and did well to overcome that situation and stringing a partnership with Hardik. I think the way they played after the loss of three wickets, four wickets rather were quite commendable, I am sure he will reflect on it and he will come out stronger”, Kohli strongly came to the youngster’s defense.
