Kylian Mbappe, Paris Saint-Germain forward was ranked as the most valuable football player in the world by the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) Football Observatory.

The Fifa-backed CIES has been assessing footballer’s market values for the past five years using an algorithm that measures the worth of the players from the European football’s top five leagues, with factors such as “age”, “position” and “club and national team results”. Also, form, transfer history, duration of contract, marketability, nationality, and country of employment are also considered for this calculation.

French world cup winner Kylian Mbappe is now worth €218.5m according to CIES analysis after he joined PSG from Monaco last year.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is worth €200m and stands as a second most valuable player. Mbappe’s PSG teammate Neymar Junior with €197m rounded off the top three.

Barcelona’s Lionel Messi could only make it to the seventh position on the list with €171.2m while Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo (€127.2m) is a lowly 19th.

Out of the 27 players with the estimated value of over 100m euros, 16 play in the Premier League, five are in LaLiga Santander, three in Serie A, two in League 1 and one in the Bundesliga and are represented by eleven different countries.
