Antoine Griezmann On Monday declared that he is eager to make his debut with the new club, Barcelona and that his heart was with the team amidst the turmoil regarding his ugly Atletico exit. The French striker, 28, is ready to make his first start in Barca colors against Chelsea in Saitama, Japan while his 120 million euros ($135 million) transfer was contested by the Spanish club, Atletico.
Atletico Madrid has labeled Barcelona “disrespectful” over their pursuit of Griezmann who insists that they should have paid a higher price for the world-cup winning French striker. Despite him declaring he was leaving the club two months ago, Atletico ha ordered Griezmann to report for pre-season training and claims that he had begun discussing a move to Nou Camp in February and agreed on a deal in March which absolutely shows a ‘lack of respect’.
Meanwhile, Griezmann while addressing the media in Tokyo said, “I am very happy about the outcome of my transfer. I am very eager to play soon. I wish Atletico players all the best of luck. I am focused on giving my best so that Barca will deliver good results. I am focused on fitting in among the Barcelona players. My heart is here with them.”
