Goa travels to Northeast in Match 13 of the Indian Soccer League. Both the teams have four points from the opening two games & will be looking to win to stay on course for the playoff berths.
Last year’s semi-finalists Northeast & Goa have one thing in common from this season. They have played champions Bengaluru and managed to hold them to a draw. While Northeast registered a victory against Orissa in their season opener, Goa did the same versus Chennai. They are sitting comfortably in the table in the 3rd & 4th place respectively.
Robert Jarni’s side has begun the season in good fashion. They managed to get a point away at champions Bengaluru which is something to be proud of. And they grabbed a late winner against Orissa through their marquee signing Asamoah Gyan to get all 3 points. Northeast so far have tailored their game according to their opponents. A cautious approach against Bengaluru was replaced by a dominating approach versus Orissa. How they line up against an attacking Goan side will be interesting to see.
Sergio Lobera‘s team is a well-oiled machinery. They have a knack of getting things done in the most crucial matches. Although Goa has never won in Guwahati since the Spaniard took over, the gaurs would like to believe that records are meant to be broken. Their fearless attacking display in the opener was somehow halted in the second where it seemed they could not play their natural game. And it was a last-minute penalty taken by Corominas which saved their blushes.
Tonight will be the second installment of the West Coast vs the East Coast after yesterday’s Mumbai-Orissa game. Who will come out on top? Tell us what you think in the comments section.
