The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the schedule for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. The 16th edition of the tournament will take place from 31st March and the last league match will be played on 21st May. After a gap of three years, the home-and-away format will return in the upcoming edition of the Indian Cricket League. All 10 teams will play seven home and away matches during the league stage of the tournament. A total of 70 league matches will be played over 52 days in 12 venues.
Royal Challengers Bangalore will begin their IPL 2023 campaign against Mumbai Indians at an iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on 2nd April. RCB has always been considered one of the best IPL teams but the trophy eluded them since the inaugural season of the tournament in 2008. In the IPL 2022, Bangalore qualified for the playoffs after finishing fourth in the league stage. RCB defeated Lucknow in the Eliminator but lost to Rajasthan Royals in the semi-final. The biggest talking point throughout Bangalore’s campaign in IPL 2022 was V. Kohli’s form. Kohli had a moderate outing in the last IPL season, scoring 341 runs, including two fifties, at an average of 22.73 in 16 matches.
With the aim of winning the maiden IPL triumph, Bangalore has revamped its squad for IPL 2023 by signing some key players at the auction, including W. Jacks and R. Topley. RCB will be led by F. du Plessis in the upcoming IPL season. After having a couple of moderate IPL seasons, Kohli will hope to have a great campaign in the IPL 2023. G. Maxwell, Plessis, H. Patel and W. Hasaranga are expected to be key players in RCB’s IPL title run.
Bangalore is placed in Group B alongside Chennai, Hyderabad, Gujarat and Punjab. The team will play against the other five teams in Group A twice and the remaining four matches will be played against the teams in the same group.
