Kangaroos go-to bowler seemed to be in red hot form during the Australia-England clash when he literally demolished the English side by his exceptional and fierce bowling display.
Starc always seems to get his plans and execution together but, the reason for his spiced-up bowling performance in this epic contest was something else this time. His wife Alyssa Healy who plays for Australia took to Twitter to vent out her feelings claiming an English supporter fired up her husband with taunts at the breakfast that morning.
Starc confirmed the incident later after the match in which he stated: “there was some ‘Suited Bloke’ mocking me about my strapping tape”. Clearly, Starc decided to ignore the incident and let his bowling do the talking. And he pacified the situation by saying it’s just part and parcel of the game.
He bowled fantastically with figures of bowling 9 overs not able to complete the complete quota but taking 4 wickets at the economy of 5 runs per over. And his wickets included likes of Star players Morgan, Root, Ben Stokes and Adil Rashid. The delivery which sent Ben Stokes to the pavilion who was well set and playing on 89 was one of its kind. It was a reverse swinging Yorker so perfectly executed that; the delivery was just unplayable. It was so good to watch the placement of the delivery; its air swing really raised some eyebrows. And this delivery is surely going to be included in the coaching manual to be taught to young cricketers ahead.
As Australians are known for their ruthless sledging and not always going by the book’s attitude, they have found their way of playing cricket by this strategy. But it sure looks like one of them is getting a taste of their own medicine. But Starc looks confident and has stated he has the intent to play and contribute to winning all the matches of this World Cup for Australia and has taken this jibe in a positive spirit.
