Team Previews:
SOUTHAMPTON:
Southampton has been the hard-working team in the league yet their hard-work didn’t quite pay-off well. Although Southampton has recorded just five points from their past outings, the fans and supporters are pretty sure that team to have a successful future under Hasenhuttl. Their previous outing had them perform exceptionally against Manchester United at Old Trafford yet a last moment effort by Romelu Lukaku had them taste defeat. This time around things have turned a bit worse with Spurs reaching the quarter-finals of the Champions League, yet with Hasenhuttl’s efforts and the introduction of new tactics, Southampton may cause some trouble to the top teams. Southampton have been successful in clinching home triumphs against the likes of Arsenal and Everton yet they failed to beat either Crystal Palace or Cardiff City at St. Mary’s over the past five weeks. The only way Southampton can turn their failures into a bright side of success if they managed to crisp their defensive tactics.
Kieran Trippier was rested in midweek and should return to the starting lineup, while Eric Dier and Harry Winks each made successful returns at the Westfalenstadion.
Probable Line-ups: Gunn; Bednarek, Yoshida, Vestergaard; Valery, Romeu, Hojbjerg, Bertrand; Ward-Prowse, Redmond; Austin.
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR:
Spurs have tasted back-to-back defeats to Burnley and Chelsea that has led to much disappointment, yet they managed to gain some potential after a last-minute penalty saves from Hugo Lloris against Arsenal leading to a draw. They will be traveling to the south with much confidence to face Southampton. Pochettino’s side is definitely lacking the consistency that makes predicting their performance a bit difficult but if that is achieved they aren’t that far of clinching the trophy. This can cause them to pay a huge cost especially when they have to face their rival, Liverpool at Anfield within three weeks.
Dele Alli has somewhere returned to training but he might opt to sit on the bench. Pochettinho might shuffle the back four and make Davinson Sanchez dropped to the substitutes bench.
Probable Line-ups: Lloris; Trippier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose; Dier, Winks; Sissoko, Eriksen, Son; Kane.
