Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has made shocking claims that Bayern Munich’s behind the scenes manipulation was the reason for Serge Gnabry’s departure. He left for Werder Bremen in 2016 to join Bayern a year later & since then has established himself as an important player for the German champions.
The Frenchman told Bein Sports, “We tried to extend his contract for a very long time and I think that Bayern manipulated behind the scenes, that if he went to Bremen he would join Bayern after. He was always a very talented boy who lacked confidence in some stages, but we always thought we had a player who could achieve a lot.”
The 24-year-old winger rose to prominence in Bayern’s 7-2 domination of Tottenham Spurs in which he himself scored 4 goals. Apart from making a mark for the club side, Gnabry has also been making inroads into the German national team. He’s become the fastest player to reach double figures for Die Mannschaft, scoring 10 times in just 11 appearances.
