With the first semi-final been washed out n the actual day and headed to the reserve day. Host England will take on Australia in the second semi-final at Edgbaston on Thursday which will turn out to be a cracker of the contest.
England had some roller coaster ride in the tournament, with some comprehensive victories at the start, but some ultimate upsets from Sri Lanka, then defeat from Australia and Pakistan made their journey quite miserable. But then defeating India and New Zealand they were right back on the track. Having ended on the third position they will lock their horns against Australia. The return of Jason Roy has changed the fortunes of England as he and Bairstow provided England two-century opening stands in the last two games. Jofra Archer will stand the key and an X-factor for England to head to finals on Sunday.
Australia struggling due to injuries have a lot of concerns to face and resolve. The injuries to Usman Khwaja have created a void in the middle order. Can Peter Handscombe equally impactful in the middle order? Marcus Stoinis’s fitness is also a question. With Finch and Warner in prime form and Mitchel Starc firing canons towards the batsmen, Australia would want them to stand tall and fulfill their responsibility to their best. Steve Smith and Pat Cummins will also need to fire to keep their challenge alive in the tournament.
