The sky is the limit for Lionel Messi as he bagged one of the precious and biggest awards in the Football universe for the 6th time. Winning awards has become a habit for Messi. He has achieved so many titles and still wanders in the hunger for more. His passion for his first love seems never-ending.

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk and Ronaldo were the other nominees for Ballon D’Or 2019 but Messi swept the trophy. Messi left behind Luka Modric, the Real Madrid and Croatia midfielder who stole this title last year. Argentine Footballer was accompanied by his wife and kids to the Chatelet Theatre for the ceremony with pride in their eyes to see him walking up the stage to catch the Golden trophy in hands. His young boy Mateo’s reaction seeing his father being announced the winner was priceless. Lionel formerly earned the honour in 2009, 2010, 2011 and in 2012 before achieving his fifth Ballon d’Or in 2015. He also gained FIFA Best Men’s Player Award earlier this year and appeared victorious once again at the awards.

Messi has been succeeding in his career at a peak for a year. He recorded 36 times last season gaining a 10th Spanish Liga title and got labeled as the Champions League top scorer. The Argentine has paced up since the start of the new European season, marking his 700th game for Barcelona last week with a goal and two backings in beating Borussia Dortmund 3-1. Messi has 41 goals in 44 games this year.
Ronaldo marked his absence in the ceremony on Tuesday but didn’t fail to appreciate his rival’s victory by taking it to social media. Similarly, former footballer and friend David Beckham congratulated Messi on Instagram. Twitter went frenzy with football fraternity wishing Messi for his achievements.

With a heavy heart, Messi said how his journey has been filled with the bittersweet moments and how far he has come from winning his first Ballon D’Or ten years back and thinking about how special it was for him to reach that stage. And he wishes to continue relishing his football career as long as possible despite the known fact of his growing age which might come in his way ahead.
