Show-cause notices sent to Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul for ‘crass’ and ‘misogynistic’ comments on women.

After sending show-cause notices to Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul for ‘crass’ and ‘misogynistic’ comments on a chat show, the committee of Administrators(CoA) is mulling a two-match suspension on the two cricketers.

Diana Edulji who is part of the two-member CoA believes a stronger punishment must be handed to both the players whose comments on the chat show of filmmaker Karan Johar, ‘Koffee with Karan’, were widely condemned for their controversial remarks on women.

Exhorting for match-ban Vinod Rai, CoA said,” I have seen the remarks made by the two players in the show in print today. Very crass. No apology can cover it. I had asked Diana fro penalty as I have not seen the clip. I think we need to give them both match suspension.

While Pandya apologized for his action on his social media and reply to the show-cause notice, nothing has been heard from Rahul so far. The two were given 24 hours to reply but even after this time period BCCI could not decide on the action and if so on the ‘quantum’ of punishment for the players.

More significantly, BBCI is set to come up with new sets of guidelines for the players and support staff.
