Hosts India, who is the only Asian team to enter the quarterfinals of the Hockey World Cup 2018, along with defending champions Australia, Germany, and Argentina have made a direct entry after topping their Pools in the group stage.

The quarterfinals of the ongoing Men’s Hockey World Cup 2018, starts from Wednesday in the Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar.

The list of top eight teams is dominated by the European teams which include Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Germany, and England locking their horns with Argentina, India, and Australia.

The first match happens between the Olympic Champions Argentina against England while France will lock horns with Australia on Wednesday. India will face the Netherlands and Germany will play Belgium on the next day.

After a shocker 5-3 win over Argentina in the Pool match, France who is making World Cup appearance after 28 years play against the mighty Austrian team. While the Frenchmen struggled past China 1-0 in the crossovers, Victor Charlet’s men had a smooth sail throughout including a massive 11 goals against China.

Australia will continue their dominance in the hockey world as they will be facing the winner of the match between India and the Netherlands. The South American team even after their historic triumph at Rio will come to the contest well-rested.
