After a tough competition, Mary Kom, six-time World Champion recorded a 4-1 win in the semi-finals to reach the women’s 51kg title clash in the India Open International Boxing tournament at the Karmabir Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Indoor Stadium.

Meanwhile, the men pugilists dominated the ring by making it an all-Indian-gold-medal clash in seven categories in the tournament on Thursday.

The 22-year-old former world junior champion Nihkat of Telangana was in her aggressive best against her ‘idol’, Mary Kom as the 36-year-old took some heavy blows initially in her competitive debut at home in 51kg.

Mary Kom with her vast experience and expertise was wise enough to play the waiting game before taking the upper hand in the third round to win 4-1. She will be facing Vanlal Duati of Mizoram in the gold –medal bout on Friday.

17 Indian men stormed into the final in 10 weight categories. Sachin Siwach recorded another upset win against Commonwealth Games gold medalist Gaurav Solanki 5-0 and will meet Amit Panghal in the 52 kg final.

Shiva Thapa won over Krystian Sczepanski of Poland with a 5-0 verdict and will face off defending champion Manish Kaushik in the 56-kg title clash.
