Delhi Team has been a central figure of the Indian Playerzpot League since its inception. They had a roster of talented individuals and many of the greats of the game but for some reason, they never crossed the finish line to claim the prestigious title. They did come close to lifting the trophy back in the 2020 season when they made it to the finals only to be beaten by the five-time champions Mumbai team.

At the auction, they did alright and refrained from spending huge on talented individuals. They did manage to bring in the likes of R. Rossouw, M. Pandey, P. Salt, and M. Kumar. However, none of them are differential players who could turn the tide for Delhi. The management looks focused on banking on the current roster which is not too shabby at all.

Speaking of players, Delhi does have cup winners, World Cup winners, and senior members of their respective national teams. The likes of D. Warner and K. Yadav do offer a good backbone to the team but the question remains, will the rest of the team rally behind the leaders?

Key Players from Delhi Team

D. Warner

Mr. Dependable, Warner has to be amongst the modern-day GOAT of cricket. Not only has he lifted the World Cup titles but has a number of records to his name. Having rediscovered himself, Warner is now in a better shape and form. Scoring 432 runs last time around he was the top run scorer for his team, there is not doubt Delhi does rely on his explosive batting but they will have to back him up better this time around. It is upon his teammates how to better support him and get the best out of him for the team’s success this season.

P. Shaw

Talk about a player who wants to prove himself on the biggest stage, P. Shaw certainly is the name that comes to your mind. The young explosive batter has been sour over his exclusion from the national team and therefore this season would serve as an audition for him to further raise his game and perhaps get him a place in the national side. He certainly will have to better on his personal level as 283 runs in 10 games is not what is expected from a player of his caliber and talent.

A. Nortje

Delhi has been crippled with somewhat inconsistent bowling attacks and this is where Nortje can come in and fill the gap. Last season he only featured in 6 games and plucked 9 wickets. He can really bring in the heat with his sheer pace in the powerplay overs and can come in handy during the death overs. Delhi once again has to tread carefully on not to overburden him with all the responsibility.

K. Yadav

The spin magician had a fantastic season in 2022. He was Delhi’s leading wicket-taker with a total of 21, in a season where inconsistency crept into this team, Kuldeep held up his own and produced impressive results. He is certainly the X factor for the Delhi team and will be banking on him heavily. After what was an impressive season last time around, Yadav himself will be wanting more aiming for a better finish and standings for his team.
