Kings XI Punjab has appointed Anil Kumble as the Director of Cricket Operations. He will lead the franchise’s coaching team in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.

Kings XI co-owner Ness Wadia told TOI on Thursday, “Kumble is our choice to coach Kings XI. The world knows about his cricketing and coaching abilities. He’s a very calm, cool and collected person. He comes with a lot of experience in the IPL, having worked with two other franchises in the past, and also with the Indian team. We’re pretty sure that under his leadership, Kings XI will do very well.” Kumble has worked with Royal Challengers Bangalore & Mumbai Indians in the past.

Kumble will be joined by George Bailey & Sunil Joshi who will be the batting coach & Assistant coach respectively. While the names of Jonty Rhodes & Courtney Walsh have been doing the rounds for other coaching positions. With this star-studded coaching team & a competitive squad, the Kings will be looking to go all the way this time. They remain one of the three teams along with Delhi Capitals & Royal Challengers Bangalore to have never won the Indian Premier League.
