Real Madrid’s potential is questioned once again after a disastrous performance against SD Eibar on Saturday in Ipurua.  It looks like the Spanish club is on the verge of another crisis after the first match since Santiago Solari was given the permanent coaching job.

The 3-0 scoreline has made the Madrid fans to think whether the defeat was worse or not than the one at the Camp Nou, which resulted in Julen Lopetegui being replaced by Solari.

The recent defeat left the team in sixth place, 6 points behind leader Sevilla. Eiber employed a dynamic pressing scheme based on spacing and positional triggers which disrupted Real Madrid’s build-up phase. The traditional defense system and inability to construct play which they are not accustomed to brought Madrid to the worst defeat of the season.

Although Solari tried to see the glass as half full, saying that there is hope of looking at the positive aspect of the four victories they had won and focus, the reality is that Eibar capitalized on the new coach’s decisions and Madrid did pay the price for it.
