Caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hailed Manchester United players after their fairytale Championship League triumph at Paris St Germain.

He said his team always believed that they could pull off a remarkable comeback in the last 16-second leg in Paris to reach the Champions League quarterfinals.

Romelu Lukaku scored either side of Juan Bernat’s effort in the first half of the game for an edgy second period where the Video Assistant Referee’s (VAR) late verdict proved the catalyst for a remarkable victory.

It was the most incredible win as United was short of suspended Paul Pogba as well as nine other injured players including Anthony Martial, Ander Herrera, and Jesse Lingard.

“The belief in the boys was just what we hoped for. It was fantastic,” Solskjaer told the media after their win. “You always know it is possible. With this club, this is what we do. It is Man Utd. It’s the Champions League. That’s what it does”

Manchester United under the leadership of Solskjaer turned to be the only team in European Cup history to recover from losing the first leg of a knockout round tie 2-0 at home.
