Portugal seems to be chanting ‘Pepe’ all their way after holding World Cup runners up- Croatia in a 1-1 draw. While Portugal defender, Pepe, celebrated his 100th cap, it was retirement announcement of Portugal’s goalkeeper Danijel Subasic and striker Mario Mandzukic that made gave football fans a reason to weep. 

    The end of the game saw a bit of emotions flowing, while the start of the game showcased a slide show of tactics. Croatia took the lead in the 18th minute after Ivan Perisic managed to break the Portugal defence and trembling the net with a loose ball. While fans tend to believe that Croatia is holding strong, captain Pepe levelled the match 14 minutes later scoring a header from Pizzi’s corner. Portugal’s favourite Cristiano Ronaldo seems to adapt his moves and tried coping up for his country. The struggle to lead for Portugal seemed legit after his eye popping transfer from Real Madrid to Juventus. Indeed, habits does take sometime to leave. 

       “We played well with a lot of young players trying to show their value,” Pepe, 35, told RTP television. “I’m extremely happy. I’m grateful for the opportunity and everything Portugal has given me and I try to enjoy every moment.”
