Indian shuttler PV Sindhu marched her way into the second round of French Open avenging her defeat in the Denmark Open. She packed off Singapore’s Beiwen Zhang in the first round of clash in Paris.

It was a sweet revenge from her side as she was defeated by Zhang in the first round of the Denmark Open. Also World No. 3, Sindhu was crushed by Zhang twice before, one at the Indian Open 2018 and the other at the Indonesia Masters in 2017. Another defeat would have been Sindhu’s fourth consecutive loss against World No.11, Beiwan Zhang, but the Indian shuttler disposed of her opponent in a match that lasted only around thirty minutes.

Starting slowly at the beginning of the game, PV Sindhu later played aggressively scoring high above the opponent to a 7-4 and then a 10-6 lead.

But Zhang had something else on the mind as she rose up to a lead of 11-10. After a tight game till 16 points, Sindhu regained her momentum and took control of the match winning the first game 21-17.

The second game was also a neck-to-neck as both locked their points in 3-3 at one point but later Sindhu dominated with an 11-6 lead. Zhang managed to gain two more points but Sindhu was quick enough to seal off the deal with 21-8 victory and entered the pre-quarterfinals of the French Open in style.
