The Juventus superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo who was embroiled in a complicated and serious rape allegation case seems to have been dropped, a media report said.

In September 2018, Katheryn Mayorga had filed a lawsuit alleging Ronaldo for sexual harassment and rape in a penthouse in the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada which happened in June 2009 when he moved to Real Madrid. Ronaldo was having a pre-season tour in the USA.

Nearly after 10 years Mayorga opened up publicly about this incident and stated that the footballer’s ‘fixers’ offered her USD 375,000 as pay-off- but allegations were made as early as 2017 by German outlet Der Spiegel.

But now, in a dramatic turn of events, the case seems to have been quietly dropped by the accuser as reported by Bloomberg, the reasons for which aren’t completely certain at this time.

The report says that a notice of voluntary dismissal was filed in May in Nevada State Court in LA, but the filing doesn’t say that any settlement was made with Cristiano Ronaldo regarding the rape case.

The claims of rape were denied by Ronaldo multiple times but Mayorga’s lawyers were fighting tooth and nail against the heavyweights they were up against. Now, however, the fights seem to have ended with the case being dropped by the accuser itself.
