Jadeja all set to surpass Kapil Dev.

Indian cricketers can also be called as the Jewels of the Cricket world as they go on to shine by setting up records that make the world tilt their necks a bit higher. This time around Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper isn’t alone to break yet another record. This time around Ravindra Jadeja added another feather to the Indian wings. Ravindra Jadeja on Tuesday became the third Indian after Kapil Dev and Sachin Tendulkar to score over 2000 runs and took 150 wickets in ODI cricket. He joined the elite list during the second one-day international between India and Australia at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur.

He came close to Tendulkar who scored 18426 runs and took 154 wickets while he’s still behind Kapil Dev who scored a total of 3782 runs and 253 wickets in ODI cricket.

Although his achievement was quickly overshadowed by Kohli’s yet another brilliance, who smashed his 40th ODI Century and 65th overall. The Indian skipper hit 10 boundaries and scored 116 off 120 balls before falling to Aussie pacer Cummins. While Ravindra Jadeja struggled his way to pull off a winning partnership with the skipper but was quickly taken down by Pat Cummins for a 40 off 21 balls.

Kohli quickly overshadowed Jadeja’s achievement.

While Virat Kohli surpassed Ricky Ponting in the process, who took 204 innings to reach the mark, Jadeja scored a total of 2011 ODI runs with 171 wickets in ODI format. During the match, Kohli also struck his 1000th boundary in ODIs and also became the fastest batsmen to score 9000 ODI runs as a captain.

There’s no doubt that there will be shortcomings to Jadeja’s praise but more matches to come and more records to be broken and with Jadeja’s current form there’s no doubt that the Saurashtra’s all-rounder is about to rise.
