Arsenal bounced back from their demoralizing defeat to Liverpool to celebrate their New Year victory beating Fulham 4-1 at the Emirates.

Even though their premier league clash win on Tuesday was only the second in six games for Arsenal, it moves them within two points of Fourth-placed Chelsea, who host Southampton on Wednesday.

The Gunners were humbled by a 5-1 mauling at Anfield from leaders Liverpool on Saturday and still look timid starting sloppily against Claudio Ranieri’s men. Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka’s opener came against the run of play when he volleyed in a pass from Alex Iwobi leading Arsenal on the way with his fourth goal of the season.

Alexander Lacazete settled Arsenal’s nerves by doubling their lead in the second half but their momentum was temporarily halted by Aboubakar Kamara’s goal after 69 minutes.

However, Welshman Aaron Ramsey restored Arsenal’s two-goal lead before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang added a fourth.

Fulham has shown little signs of recovery under Claudio Ranieri and wasted two glorious chances in the game to take an unexpected lead. With just two points and six goals on their travels, the visitors are placed second from the bottom.
